A View From The Bridge

Manchester United ‘very confident’ of pipping Chelsea to ‘special talent’ playing in London

Chelsea and Manchester United will go head-to-head for Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise

Accumulating talents from around the world has been the path of life at Stamford Bridge since Todd Boehly took over the Chelsea reins and Michael Olise could be the next name on the list. There is talent across London up for grabs this summer and the West London club are said to be among the fold in a bid to vie him away from Premier League rivals.

Michael Olise’s fate away from Crystal Palace is sealed for the upcoming summer transfer window. Olise was close to making a move to Chelsea last summer with the Blues triggering his 35 million pounds (USD 44.74 million) release clause although the 22-year-old opted to remain at Selhurst Park. He was soon rewarded by the Eagles with a new four-year deal by Palace.

Michael Olise moved to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021 following an impressive display with Reading FC in the 2020-21 Championship following a tally of seven goals in 44 appearances which garnered him the EFL Young Player of the Season. He has taken massive strides in his ability at Palace and has shown his exceptional ability to dribble and glide past opponents with ease.

Olise’s teammate Joel Ward labelled him as Special Talent (via. Football. London):

“Michael’s a special talent. The world’s his oyster and he’s just getting better and better from game to game, so I think he’s going to go onto new heights and set the bar. If he continues that way, he’s going to go on to special things.

While Chelsea are looking to get their hands on Olise, who was once at Cobham for seven years, League rivals Manchester United remain very confident that they can land the 22-year-old this summer, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

New part-owner at M16, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, wants to take the Reds from Manchester to new heights and has made clear that they will go back to having the “best in class” players at the club. He has already commenced changes with the backroom staff complemented by the major exodus planned in the upcoming window. Crystal Palace ace has reportedly been identified as the perfect player to resurrect Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United era.

For Chelsea, it is difficult to buy before making a sale. Any potential further acquisition will fail the club to comply with the FFP regulations and there needs to be a few sales before the Blues can jump back into the transfer market for potential targets.
