Chelsea are keen on signing PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko

As Per Metro, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are set to battle for the signing of PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko. The attacking player currently boasts six goals and eight assists in 25 Eredivisie league games this season.

Bakayoko has been a revelation since getting promoted to the senior team. He helped PSV lift the KNVB Cup last season and has been named Eredivisie Talent of the Month on multiple occasions.

The 20-year-old has a €50-€60 million price tag, and French clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on the forward situation. Meanwhile, Brentford saw their €40 million bid rejected by the Dutch club.

Bakayoko is enjoying a productive season with PSV after emerging from the youth academy and instantly becoming an integral part of the club. He has become a regular starter, having featured in 25 matches in the league.

Noni Madueke, who has been in great shape this season despite not receiving enough minutes in all competitions, was one of the PSV players whom Chelsea previously brought in.

Mauricio Pochettino has seen Madueke repeatedly prove his value to the club, and his goal against Leicester City was just another shining illustration of the forward’s talent and potential to be among Chelsea’s best players.

For the time being, Palmer and Madueke have occupied the right-wing spot, so it doesn’t make sense to add another forward in the same area unless we loan Madueke next season, given that he hasn’t played enough matches this campaign.

Cole Palmer celebrates a goal with Levi Colwill.

Next summer, once again, we can witness that there will be plenty of outgoing and incoming players, as the Blues’ priority will be offloading many fringe players and bringing in a profit. Bakayoko has shone at PSV multiple times, and he will offer versatility in the attacking line.

The Blues have always scouted gifted individuals, but the primary issue is that he will need time to develop. The current problem is that our young players aren’t delivering consistent results, and adding only inexperienced players will slow the progress under Pochettino.
