“Today, we created chances”- Mauricio Pochettino unhappy with Chelsea’s finishing in Nottingham Forest loss

Mauricio Pochettino has encouraged players to be more clinical following 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Mauricio Pochettino has advised the players to be more clinical in front of goal after their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. Pochettino’s side were dominant throughout the game, but their inexperience in front of goal resulted in only two shots on target.

Meanwhile, Forest had three shots on target and they managed to convert one of them into the net, while Chelsea lost their second game of the season.

However, Nicolas Jackson did have a chance to equalise the game after Raheem Sterling crossed, but the Senegalese fluffed his chances and toed the ball over the post.

The Blues only have one victory in their last four games, against Luton Town. The club now goes into an international break, and Pochettino will have plenty of time to figure out the club’s flaws.

Chelsea currently have Nicolas Jackson as their only striker, as Armando Broja and Christopher Nkunku are now recuperating from injuries. Pochettino remains frustrated by the lack of options and has asked the team to be clinical, (h/t Metro) as he said after the game:

“Today, we created chances. We were not clinical enough in the last third. We should score if we want to win; make one mistake and concede.”

These are the same issues that we had last season, and they are reappearing. We created many opportunities, but we could not take any of them. Forest, who played Manchester United before us, were 2-0, but United fought back to win 3-2 because they scored at every opportunity, and right now, we don’t have a reliable scorer.

Jackson possesses all the necessary qualities, as he has demonstrated, but it might take him a season to get comfortable playing in the Premier League. This wouldn’t have been a problem for us if we had Nkunku. Hopefully, these issues will be dealt with following the end of the international break.
