“I don’t forget Chelsea”- Premier League manager claims Blues are still in top-four race

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte claims that Chelsea are still in the top-four race

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte claims that Chelsea are still in the running for a top-four finish despite being 10th in the league table currently.

Chelsea have won their last two games in the league to generate some momentum ahead of the latter half of this season. The big win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League has helped the cause in the building of momentum as well.

The Blues are currently 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, with a game in hand. While that itself is a big mountain to climb, there are other teams ahead who are challenging as well. The likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool and Brighton could challenge Spurs for that fourth spot.

But, Conte feels Chelsea are in the race. Here’s what he said (h/t Metro):

“You can see the table and you can see there are important teams that in the past won trophies, important trophies, and now they’re struggling. They’re struggling for a place in the Champions League.

“Brentford also are having a fantastic season, then there is Newcastle, Liverpool and I don’t forget Chelsea. This season will be an important race for all the teams involved.”

After a horrible first two months of this calendar year, Chelsea have left themselves with too much to do to finish fourth in the league.

But, their dreams of playing the Champions League next season haven’t gone away yet. Graham Potter’s men are in the quarter-final of that competition this time around, with every chance of surprising people and winning it. The situation was similar under Thomas Tuchel in 2021 and they won it.

In league terms, it is all about keeping up the momentum and trying to finish as high as possible. Before the March international break, Chelsea face relegation-fighting Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

More Chelsea News:

It won’t be an easy game as the Toffees are fighting for survival and are giving it their all under Sean Dyche. If we win this weekend, it would excite the fans for what is to come in April and May. Potter still has some convincing to do that he is the right man for the job. He cannot slack at the moment.
