Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka received a call from Chelsea and Manchester City regarding a potential move. This is according to journalist Ciro Venerato while speaking on Italian TV station Luna, as relayed by Area Napoli (h/t Express).
The Slovakian international is in talks with his side over a new contract. His current one expires in 2025. However, an agreement has not been reached, though the journalist claims it is close.
It is believed that the Serie A side are willing to offer €2.5 million a season to the 27-year-old midfielder, while his entourage is trying to strike a deal for €3 million a season.
Lobotka moved to Naples in 2020 from Spanish side Celta de Vigo. The Slovakian international has since then been a regular for both club and country.
The defensive midfielder has started in all 12 games for Luciano Spalletti this season in all competitions. He also has a goal and an assist to his name in the process.
Should the Blues make a move for the midfielder, he will likely be the replacement for N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman sees his contract at the Bridge expire next season and talks are said to have reached a stalemate.
Lobotka could make an ideal replacement for Kante in the Blues squad. It remains to be seen if the west London club make a move for the 27-year-old. Napoli will likely rush to have the contract extension signed after hearing of the Premier League interest.
