“Never lose”- Tuchel backs misfiring Chelsea ace to follow in rival star’s shoes and rediscover his best form

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel backs Romelu Lukaku to follow in Harry Kane’s stead and rediscover his top form

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has backed Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku to rediscover his scoring touch sooner rather than later.

Romelu Lukaku is yet to justify the whopping £97.5m club-record fee that Chelsea paid for him last summer. The Belgian has struggled to replicate the form he showed for Inter Milan in the previous two seasons and has attracted a lot of speculation lately for his off-the-field conduct.

With only eight goals and two assists in 23 appearances to his name across all competitions this season, it’s evident that Stamford Bridge is yet to see the best of the 28-year-old striker. Given the faith put in him, it remains to be seen just when we can get the best out of the giant striker.

Lukaku isn’t the only ace striker who is enjoying a poor spell of form this season. Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane had a similarly poor start this campaign but appears to have rediscovered his best since the arrival of Antonio Conte, The English captain has regained his consistency and has found the net four times in the last 5 Premier League matches

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel compared the two world-class strikers and suggested that Lukaku’s performance drop in quality isn’t totally abrupt. The German manager also backed the Belgian forward to end the season strongly.

“I remember when there were a lot of critics for Harry Kane at the beginning of the season. But in the end, he is what he is. He’s a goalscorer. I think if you are a scorer at this level, you must have been scoring goals from six-years old. You just have it, and he will never lose it, and it’s the same for Romelu.”

“These guys, at the end of the season, they will have a certain amount of goals. Why? Because they have proved, this is what they do. It’s simply what they do.”

Chelsea are set to face Tottenham in the London derby today in a clash that could have huge ramifications in the race for the top four. With both Lukaku and Kane set to go up against each other, it remains to be seen who will come out on top. Given our recent run of results in the league, there is no better time than now for Lukaku to prove Tuchel a prophet.

This match can be the opportunity for Lukaku to gain the trust and respect of the Blues fans. On top of that, if he guides our team to triumph, then we can be in a better position to challenge Liverpool for the second spot.

A win in the London derby would also help us gain the momentum we lost after winning only one of the last five matches.
