Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.london), Chelsea ace Mason Mount explained his goal celebration after scoring the winner against Liverpool. Mount’s goal was enough for Chelsea as they dug in for an important win over Liverpool to enter the fray for top-four.
The three points were deserved as Chelsea kept Liverpool at bay pretty easily for most of the match. While Chelsea did create more chances, they scored just that one goal in the first half.
Mount pounced on a lofted through ball from N’Golo Kante and ran at the defence. He cut in from the left past Fabinho to launch one right into the bottom right corner past Alisson. Nonetheless, Mason Mount produced a rather interesting celebration.
At first, he did the Frankenstein celebration by himself. When Ben Chilwell joined him, they did something like Mount imitating firing a sort of fireball towards Chilwell. Post-match, on being asked about what the celebration was, Mount explained it.
“We take a lot of flights to away games and me and Chilly [Chilwell] sit behind Kurt Zouma on the plane and he’s always watching Anime cartoons and we always watch it from behind him, so that was the celebration. I said to Chilly if I score or he scores, we do it and obviously, I scored today and we did it and it was for Zouma as well.”
Mount also spoke about how he wants his side to keep pushing and get as many points as they can. He wanted to improve and produce the form he has been showing for the last few months. He added that he was happy to get his goal that ultimately won them the game.
