Thomas Tuchel spoke out on how he masterminded his Chelsea side to pick up the win against Liverpool. (h/t Express) It was yet another win for Tuchel and his side as they have now gone 10 games unbeaten, winning 7 of those.
Following the win over Liverpool, Chelsea moved into the fourth spot for the time being. Mason Mount’s first-half goal proved to be enough as the Blues condemned Liverpool to a fifth straight home loss. Mount cut in from the left and fired a low curling effort past Alisson. Chelsea had another goal ruled out due to Werner being marginally offside.
Even though Liverpool stepped up later in the game, Chelsea held firm. Thomas Tuchel spoke about how he guided his side to such a vital win.
“When you play at Anfield, you cannot overthink. We told the players we need your best performance but nothing ‘extra special’. We did this excellent. It was a very good team performance. They ask you a lot of questions and we need to have the answers.
“Everyone was very brave and everyone was sharp. It is a six-point game because the others lose. The race is on, there are still 11 games to go. We go step by step. We can never rest and never celebrate, there is no time.”
The win took Chelsea to 47 points from 27 games. While West Ham can overtake them if they win their game in hand, Chelsea have done well to come to this position after languishing at 10th place when Frank Lampard was sacked.
The next three games are also very important for Tuchel as Chelsea take on fellow top-four hopefuls, Everton followed by Leeds United and then the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Atletico. Chelsea have built up good momentum and look really solid in recent games.
