Chelsea ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign highly-rated Bundesliga ace – reports

Christian Pulisic

Chelsea are reportedly ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic, according to Liverpool Echo.

This is because we sent Michy Batshuayi to Dortmund on loan. Batshuayi has started off life on a good note at the Bundesliga outfit as he has gone on to net five goals from just three Bundesliga games so far. In all likelihood, they will look to sign him permanently at the end of the season as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who joined Arsenal in January.

Since leaving the United States to join Dortmund in 2016, Pulisic has become one of the most highly-rated young players in world football and he is expected to be the subject of a transfer war during the summer. The youngster has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester United but we could now be the favourites to sign him as we could use Batshuayi as a bait to secure a deal.

According to a report which was published by The Daily Mail, we have been closely monitoring Pulisic’s progress during the past year and could look to pull off a deal before the world cup begins during the summer.

Though Dortmund will be naturally reluctant to let go of Pulisic, as he is one of their most creative and dynamic players. The club will likely at the end of the day have to resign themselves to losing him as the American will naturally be drawn towards playing for an elite club in world football where he will be able to earn higher wages.

Though we refused to sell Batshuayi in January, it is clear that we do not have faith in him, especially after we bought Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

Batshuayi arrived at Stamford Bridge during the summer of 2016 and failed to establish himself as a first-team regular, with manager Antonio Conte opting to utilise Diego Costa over him. The highlight of his time with us so far came when he scored the goal which sealed the Premier League title.

Pulisic is going to be a superstar and it will definitely be worth using Batshuayi as bait if we can lure him.
