Is this Mourinho’s strongest starting XI?

With Jose Mourinho being slammed at points over his Chelsea team selection, I take a look – as a Chelsea fan – at what I feel our best 11 is. What do you think?

Petr Cech – GK

The giant Czech goalkeeper has established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in world football and is the Blues’ only viable option between the sticks.

Branislav Ivanovic – RB

Although I prefer him at centre-back, David Azpilicueta isn’t getting a look in. He’s strong, intelligent and forceful in the tackle.

John Terry – CB

We all know what Terry is about, and like it or not the Blues are better with him in the side.

Gary Cahill – CB

The England international has been brilliant this season next to Terry and has been a huge benefactor the club’s success.

Ashley Cole – LB

Although he’s nearing the end of his playing days, Cole is still an integral figure at the club.

Ramires – CM

One of the most explosive players in the English topflight, the Brazilian has kept Chelsea ticking so far this term.

Frank Lampard – CM

Reverted into a deeper role because of his ageing legs, Lampard has impressed with his decision making so far.

Eden Hazard – LM

The Belgian is hugely underrated, and when you think of how highly he is actually rated, that tells you something. Magnificent talent.

Juan Mata – CAM

The man whose absense caused a storm. Two-time Player of the Year Mata is one of the finest playmakers in Europe.

Oscar – RM

The Brazilian does the dirty work on the wing as well as sparkling going forward. Oscar also has one heck of a shot on him.

Fernando Torres  – ST

Chelsea need a new frontman, badly. Torres is a pick of an average bunch, but his movement has looked sharper this year.
