End of the road for Moses?

published :

After just a season at the Bridge, it seems Victor Moses could well be on his way to Everton, to link up with former boss, Roberto Martinez.

It took us five bids to prise him away from Wigan’s grasp last summer, and despite 34 appearances in all competitions last season, he failed to make a large impact on the side, and with Arouna Kone leaving Wigan for Everton already this summer, they would be keen to add another forward to their books.

With Andre Schurrle already being added to the ranks this summer, competition in the forward areas is already rife, and there has also been confirmation of a bid being tabled for Bruma, the 18 year old Portuguese wonderkid from Sporting Lisbon.

Add in Kevin de Bruyne into the mix, and it is clear to see that the chances of Moses breaking into the team seem pretty remote, however, Mourinho may well want to see him in action for six months or so to see if he is a contender for a starting spot.

There were sparks of form that show Moses could have a great future, he managed four goals from six appearances in the Europa League, although with our aims very much set on the Champions League from now on, it does suggest he may well be more comfortable at a club like Everton.

The Nigerian is however only 22, and like we have seen with Marko Marin, and Oriel Romeu, a loan deal may well be more obvious, and should Everton be the club tracking him, it would of course benefit them in the short-term also.

With de Bruyne being brought back into the squad, you would expect that to mean he will be utilised this season, and being the same age as Moses, you have to wonder which is the preferred choice. de Bruyne managed 10 goals and 10 assists in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen last season, and any performance close to that would surely fire him up the pecking order, especially as Moses managed just 1 assist and 6 goals from his 34 matches last season.

However, should the reported £6.9m be the correct figure for 18 year old Bruma, recuperating that fee for Moses would definitely suggest good business, and it does seem Everton are very likely to chase their man.

Martinez has raided Wigan for Alcaraz, Kone, and Robles so far, and a deal for the 22 year old would mean positive and shrewd business, as they continue their quest for a top four spot.

For me, I don’t believe there is any value to keeping Moses around, his performances last season didn’t fill me with joy, and at times, it seemed he struggled to fit into our pattern of play. I would be very keen to sell him, regardless of whether we strike  deal for Bruma.

Should we keep Moses? If not, why? Let us know!

Moses is better than de Bruyne. U can't jugde with one season with chelsea. Moreover, can de bruyne actually cope with the EPL? He may have scored 10 goals in germany but let's see what he can do in England before comparing him with Moses.

Mr reporter, why do you rate Kelvin higher than moses? Is your opinion based on skin colour or football?

You said to you moses should be sold RIGHT?, but sorry to say, you re really blind, how can you say a thing like that about mosses, he can drive very well from both sides, he has speed and momentum…are you talking about the goals? how many did torres score in his first season as a pointman that because of him managers has been sacked, Yet you did not write and ask him to be sold.. I THINK YOU ARE A RACIST, yes that's what you are……

Probelmssolver & Icecool, what two absolutely ridiculous comments.
Firstly, that De Bruyne is leagues ahead of Moses in terms of ability and potential is not up for debate. Borussia Dortmund (champions league finalists) went public in their pursuit of De Bruyne. What club of that size has been in for Moses? That's right, no one.
Secondly, did the author of this piece not explicitly talk positively about signing Bruma from Sporting Club? Yes Bruma – a black player.
Why not try reading and thinking before making such stupid comments. Fucking idiots. You both owe the author of this blog an apology.

Hi guys, appreciate the feedback. I can handle criticism, but not being labelled a racist, as Matt said, Bruma is a player i rate very highly and it is certainly not an issue of race, purely skill.

I rated Moses at Wigan but not so far at Chelsea, if we can get the £8m reported for him from Everton, i think we should take it. As a couple of you mentioned though, keeping both is an option, as long as Jose can keep them all happy.

Again, thanks for your comments, and cheers Matt too.

Moses is not trully of Chelsea standard just like Marin and Romeo. He has had his chances and it is clear. De Bruyne should also have his chance and if he is not, he is loaned out and sold from there.

Bet it, Marin and Romeo will never return except they turn around their game significantly
