Chelsea considering Federico Chiesa after being offered by his agent
According to journalist Simon Phillips, the agent of Juventus star Federico Chiesa has offered the player to Chelsea.
The Blues have been one of the Premier League’s busiest sides in the transfer window, bringing in as many as nine new players thus far. Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who are spearheading the club’s transfer plans, have been proactive in the transfer market.
Going by the pace at which the club are moving, it seems there’s still plenty of business to be done in the final month of the transfer window. A new wide player is on Chelsea’s agenda behind the scenes, especially after links of Noni Madueke to Newcastle United emerged of late.
The West London side have been long linked with Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, and tried their best to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace earlier in the summer, before he moved to Bayern Munich. Amidst the club’s interest in wide players, Simon Phillips says Chelsea have been offered Federico Chiesa by his agent Fali Ramadani, with the Blues considering the proposal.
“The agent of Federico Chiesa has approached Chelsea, SPTC sources understand,” Phillips wrote on his Substack website.
“Chelsea have not yet given a definitive answer, and have been considering it.
“But sources think it’s unlikely. His agent spoke to Chelsea though because we have had recent interest in Chiesa. Thomas Tuchel suggested him to the board when he was in charge, and the board did seriously look at signing him. It wasn’t possible or viable at that time, but Chiesa does still have some admirers at Chelsea, so let’s see if anything comes of that one.”
Chiesa’s future at Juventus has been uncertain for some time now. The Italy international is into the final year of his £150,000-per-week contract at Old Lady, and with him not featuring in new head coach Thiago Motta’s plans, the club wants to cash him in. He could be available for a paltry €30 million this summer due to his contract winding down.
Chiesa has racked up vast experience from his time in Turin, creating chances, scoring goals and winning trophies in the process. There are, of course, some concerns over the ex-Fiorentina star’s fitness with the versatile forward not exactly boasting the best injury record.

While the Italian is a fantastic player and has solid European experience under his belt, Chelsea should think twice before investing. Despite the reduced asking price, signing Chiesa still poses a significant risk for Enzo Maresca’s club due to his injury record. The 26-year-old has had his fair share of fitness issues throughout his career, making him a big gamble for any potential buyer including the Pensioners.
Although the €30million price tag appears shiny, we must avoid going for Chiesa. Rather, the Chelsea hierarchy should try to get players on board who are free of injury issues and can contribute substantially.
