La Liga star forward has caught the eye of Chelsea
Athletic Bilbao’s 21-year-old star forward, Nico Williams, is hot property this summer, with a number of top European clubs, including Chelsea, interested in securing the La Liga superstar’s signature. This is according to the Express.
According to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football London), Williams’ release clause of €58 million has come to light. Athletic Bilbao has also made themselves clear that they will not accept any bids below it.
The 21-year-old Spanish international is coming off the back of a remarkable recent season. He has scored eight goals and provided a staggering 19 assists during his total 37 appearances in La Liga and Copa del Rey.
With 122 games for Athletic Club, 20 goals, and 26 assists, the young player has already proven to be quite impressive for the La Liga club. In addition to this, the winger has been capped by the Spain senior team 15 times.
Missing out on their primary forward target, Benjamin Sesko, who signed a new contract with RB Leipzig, Chelsea would now like to make a concrete move for the young Spanish international as they desperately want to bring in an offensive addition this summer.
After inconsistent performances by Nicolas Jackson in the previous season, the Blues will now want to make sure that their offensive lineup is seriously strong and able to convert enough chances into goals.
Entering a new era with a new manager, Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are searching the market to bring in quality additions to their squad to help their coach have a strong team ready to win some titles in the upcoming season.
