Roma have announced that Chelsea target Daniele De Rossi will not be leaving the Italian capital this summer.
With just one-year left on his contract, it was thought that the team, that finished 6th in their league and who have to settle for Europa League football, would have been keen to cash-in on a player who can leave for free at the end of the season.
The club’s new Director of Sport Walter Sabatini told the Gazzetta dello Sport: “De Rossi’s sale is not on the agenda, just as his contract renewal negotiations are not on the agenda for today.
Before adding: “I have spoken to Daniele, we will speak with his agent and make an offer.”
This news could lead to Chelsea looking for a different option to replace the injured Michael Essien.
