Aston Villa emerges newest club to express interest in Chelsea star Conor Gallagher
Aston Villa are the latest club to express their interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the summer market. They can use their own player, Jhon Duran, to tempt the Blues to make a swap deal for the midfielder.
According to the Telegraph (subscription required), (h/t Sun), plenty of clubs have expressed interest in signing the Blues midfielder, who has yet to renew his deal with the club as his contract expires after the end of next season. Chelsea have shown a willingness to sell the 24-year-old in order to generate some revenue.
The West Londoners are aware of Gallagher’s worth in the market and feel his exit will bring substantial profit to the club. That’s because academy players can be listed as pure profit on the club’s balance sheet.
Tottenham Hotspur are heavily keen on signing the midfielder and are ahead of other clubs for his signature, and Ange Postecoglou is understood to be a big admirer of the Blues academy player.
However, they can face competition from the Villains, who have qualified for the Champions League for the upcoming season, and they can present Chelsea with a better opportunity to sell Gallagher in the summer.
Gallagher appears to have a lot of suitors, and Chelsea wants to maximise their profits. As such, they should make a smart choice and determine which team is willing to pay a premium to recruit the midfield player. It is not necessary for the Blues to add another young striker, so they should instead avoid making a swap deal.
The midfield player is very sought by Spurs, and Chelsea should profit handsomely from their acquisition. Since we made a significant benefit from their departure, it will be a better approach to negotiate than what we did with Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

However, so far, Gallagher has shown no sign of leaving the club, and he wants to remain here and fight for his place. So it will be interesting to see what happens with his future, as he has only a year left on his contract.
