Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea have cooled their interest in Ivan Toney
Fabrizio Romano’s recent update on Ivan Toney highlights that Chelsea seems to have cooled their interest in the pursuit of the striker after the transfer expert revealed that it’s all quiet between the Blues and the striker.
Toney has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea. The striker returned to action in January after spending eight months without football due to a betting ban. Since returning to action, the centre-forward has produced four goals in 15 Premier League games.
However, the forward demands seem to have cooled down as clubs aren’t showing heavy interest in signing him. Toney’s addition will greatly benefit any club given his experience, and his attributes make him a standout striker in the Premier League.
But as of now, it will be interesting to see what happens to his future after Romano’s recent update. Confirmed the striker could remain at Brentford, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, he said:
“It’s also quiet around Ivan Toney right now. Honestly, Arsenal and Chelsea never made proposals now or in January, despite links. I’m told Toney’s situation will be assessed in the summer, and it’s not one for May. Let’s see the striker’s domino and the player’s price tag.’’
Since his return, Toney hasn’t been productive enough, and with just four goals, he seems to be taking time to adjust once again. It remains to be seen who Blues decides to sign next summer because they should assess their options carefully and bring in a clinical and reliable striker who will instantly make a big difference.
With less interest, the Bees could lower Toney’s price tag, and if Chelsea once again reignite their interest in signing him, it could prove to be a bargain. However, as of now, things look uncertain, as the West Londoners are looking in the other direction and want to sign Victor Osimhen next season.
