Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino talks about his future amid exit rumours

Mauricio Pochettino made it clear that his previous comments about his future at Chelsea were taken in the wrong context and the speculation about his future at the club does not seem to affect him.

Speaking to Football London, here is what he had to say:

“Speculation? No, they asked me. We need to put it in context and be clear. They asked me some questions but I never said it is affecting. If I say that, I cannot remember because my English is getting worse and worse [laughs]. I don’t know. I don’t want to lie but I don’t believe I said that.”

“I have one year left on my contract here and if nobody says nothing, then suppose I am going to be here. Only if someone says to me ‘ciao’ because we don’t know. I have one year left on my contract and I am going to be here but enough is about these stupid rumours because you need to ask the club if the club want me to keep going or not. Not to writing that has no sense, you know?”

Chelsea under Pochettino are still a “work-in-progress” and the progress is visible, compared to the early part of the season. There seems to be an identity to the club, and we have to stick with him. Too much chopping and changing won’t take a club anywhere. In 47 games under Poch, we have 1.68 PPM and that is sure to increase if we continue to trust him with time and resources.

Trust the process!

Despite the ongoing speculation, Pochettino remains focused on the task at hand, stressing the importance of clarity and communication from the club regarding his future. His assertion to “stop the stupid rumours” is a reflection of his dedication towards securing results for the club without having to get distracted by the media.

Addressing his contractual situation, Pochettino emphasised that he has one year remaining on his contract at Chelsea and reiterated his commitment to the club unless told otherwise. He made it clear that any decision about his future ultimately rests with the club, stating that he would continue in his role unless someone tells him otherwise.

For the Blues to achieve their long-term goals, one of the most important things is stability. Players need time to adapt to a new style of play, and as they seem to adapt to one, if you get someone else in, the process will definitely take that much longer. It is much easier to trust a manager, as good as Poch with time and patience because the club has surely evolved since the time he joined.
