Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle United are undecided on Chelsea target Bruno Guimaraes’s future
Fabrizio Romano provides the latest development on Bruno Guimaraes’s future at Newcastle United, who has been linked with a move to various clubs, including Chelsea. If the Blues choose to make a bid during the summer transfer window, they may acquire the Brazilian midfielder for £40 million.
The Magpies could be open to listening to offers as they have to abide by the Premier League Financial Fari Play rule next season and could sell a few of their players in the transfer window to generate some profit.
The Blues, meanwhile, are facing a similar problem because they are solely subject to the FFP and must first make money before acquiring players. The West Londoners have expressed interest in signing Guimaraes as they want to strengthen their midfield
However, Romano’s recent comments on the Brazilian suggest the club hasn’t decided on his future in the upcoming summer transfer market. Speaking to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, he said:
“Newcastle, meanwhile, has to focus on Financial Fair Play before thinking about that kind of move. Also, nothing is clear for Bruno Guimaraes future yet; as I’m told, nothing is concrete or advanced so far for Bruno, so it’s too early to be talking about possible replacements like Gallagher or anyone else.”
Guimaraes would be a great addition to Chelsea if they are eager to add him for the upcoming campaign. His versatility in the midfield would bolster the squad. If we sign Guimaraes, he will provide us with the additional technicality we need in the middle of the pitch.
His defensive qualities will also benefit our defence, and his addition to the team adds intrigue since he is a seasoned Premier League player who helped Newcastle advance to the Champions League last season and has remained one of their best players this season.
