Portsmouth manager John Mousinho confirms Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin is fit to play next game

Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin has been deemed fit by Portsmouth FC manager John Mousinho, who feared the midfielder had suffered an injury after the player was absent for the Shrewsbury match. Anjorin finally returned to action after spending five months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

However, it was confirmed the absence was precautionary, and the midfielder will be back in action for the next match for Portsmouth. The 22-year-old has appeared in eight League One games this season and produced only one goal.

Meanwhile, the Blues are at the top of the table, eight points ahead of second-place Derby County, and now Anjorin’s fitness will be a big relief for the Mousinho side, who confirmed he didn’t pick any injuries. Speaking to Portsmouth.CO.UK, he revealed:

‘’Tino’s fine. He felt a bit of hamstring fatigue. He actually did the session on Wednesday, so it’s nothing from Tuesday night.’’

”Tino did the session on Wednesday and felt fatigued on Friday. We were thinking about what he’d be like for Shrewsbury, but we decided to take the risk out of the situation. That means he’s nice and fresh for next week, so there’s nothing to worry about there.”

Who is Tino Anjorin?

Anjorin is a Blues Academy product that came up through the Cobham system. He is now in his third loan spell with Portsmouth, having previously been on loans at Lokomotiv Moscow and Huddersfield Town.

However, the 22-year-old has already made his senior debut when he netted in a Blues 7-1 FA Cup win against Grimsby Town in the final of the Carabao Cup. On March 8, 2020, he earned his Premier League debut, and on December 8, 2020, he made his Champions League debut.

Anjorin has played in ten games this season across all competitions while on loan at Portsmouth. The attacking midfielder has developed successfully during his loan period, and the Blues have the option to give him a shot at redemption if he helps his team qualify for the EFL Championship next season.
