Chelsea star Malo Gusto avoided a second yellow card against Manchester United
As per Football. London, Chelsea star Malo Gusto was fortunate to escape a yellow card in a chaotic 4-3 match against Manchester United. A Second yellow card would have seen Gusto miss the clash against Sheffield United, but he was lucky enough not to get booked.
Gusto has been a regular starter in the right-back position ever since Reece James was sidelined with a hamstring injury. Blues supporters haven’t missed the club captain since then thanks to the Frenchman’s splendid fullback performance.
However, Gusto has been overused, which saw him subbed on in a 2-2 draw with Burnley with a suspected hamstring injury in the late stages. It was then expected he would miss the clash against Manchester United on Thursday.
However, it was later revealed the 23-year-old suffered a cramp and featured against United. Once again, Gusto dropped another top performance and has continued to be appreciated by the fans. He has been the most reliable player for Mauricio Pochettino this campaign.
However, the fullback was at risk of missing a game against Sheffield United, after he illegally ran on the pitch when Cole Palmer produced the match-winner against Man United.
Lucky Gusto!!
During the match, Gusto was shown a yellow card by Alejandro Garnacho. Gusto and Caicedo were substituted as the game went on with United ahead 3-2, but the Blues rallied, with Moises Caicedo and the Frenchman running on the pitch illegally. Caicedo was booked for the incident, but Gusto got away with a second yellow card.
It will be a big relief for Pochettino, who is already short on right-backs this season. Gusto’s presence provides great quality at the back, and the Frenchman has been tremendous for us. He was lucky to avoid a yellow card because, had he received a second, the Argentine would have been scratching his head against Sheffield United.
