Enzo Fernandez denies rumours of leaving Chelsea after win against Crystal Palace
Enzo Fernandez has dismissed rumours of him leaving Chelsea after the midfielder claimed he is happy. This comes after the Blues suffered embarrassing defeats to Wolves and Liverpool.
Chelsea broke the British transfer record to sign the midfielder from Benfica in the January transfer window. Though Fernandez took his time to settle in London, the midfielder has been impressive this campaign.
The 2022 World Cup winner has seven goals this season across all competition, and in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, the 23-year-old was once again on the scoresheet. This means Fernandez has scored two goals in a row for the first time since joining the Blues.
This also gives the Blues back-to-back solid wins after humiliating defeats to Liverpool and Wolves and eases some pressure on Mauricio Pochettino. After the game, the midfielder discussed his future, quashed all the rumours, and told ESPN, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:
“I’m happy here at Chelsea, we want to play the next Champions League. I don’t know where the leaving rumours came from — they had spoken on social networks. I came out to totally deny that story, it’s fake.”
Enzo Fernandez is blue.
Fernandez has been sensational for us, and when the team is not doing well, you will hear rumours that players are not happy with the club’s performance, and it’s common. We are happy to have him; he has been a key player for us at such a young age, and his quality in the squad adds great creativity in the middle of the park.
Previously, his agent denied the rumours that he was considering leaving Chelsea and now, the player himself has come out and quashed all theories, so it’s clear now, and we hopefully won’t hear more such speculation. He has all the ingredients to become one of the best midfielders, and hopefully, he will lead the Blues to a top-four finish this season.
