Barcelona not to entertain any interest from Chelsea for Marc Andre Ter-Stegen
According to the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express), Barcelona will not permit ace goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen to leave the club following interest from Chelsea.
The Blues were keen to bring in the German to replace the struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga. It, however, seems to be a fight against the odds given the keeper’s importance to the Catalans.
Ter-Stegen is alongside Jan Oblak and Alisson Becker amongst the foremost keepers in the game today. Chelsea have been linked with the former two while the latter is a complete no go.
According to the report, Chelsea believes Ter-Stegen would be an ideal addition to the club. Barcelona, however, are having none of it and are keen to extend the 28-year-old’s stay ar the club.
The German has been one of the club’s shining lights in a disappointing La Liga campaign that saw them relinquish their title to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
A number of Barcelona’s top stars are ageing while their recent big-money acquisitions have all been underwhelming.
In purely footballing terms, it can be argued that Barcelona is a team on the wane while Chelsea is one on the rise. Joining Chelsea will give the German ace more chances of success compared to the Catalans.
Chelsea can always turn their attention to Oblak. The imperious keeper will, however, cost us a mammoth £110million.

A complete goalkeeper, Ter-Stegen would have immensely boosted our defence by going straight into the starting lineup. There is no fault in dreaming big, maybe Chelsea here did so a bridge too far.
