Antonio Conte wants to sign N’Golo Kante at Inter Milan

According to a report from Sport Mediaset via SempreInter (h/t Football.london), Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is keen on signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer.

But the Frenchman’s wages might prove to a stumbling block in the deal going through. (h/t Football.london)

It was Conte who signed Kante at Chelsea back in 2016 from Leicester City. The midfielder was an integral part of Conte’s team as we won the Premier League and the FA Cup under the Italian.

Having left the club in 2018, Conte returned to management last summer, taking over the reins at Inter Milan.

The former Blues’ boss has been targeting signings from the Premier League, having brought in the likes of Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young, Romelu Lukaku among others.

And now, as per the report, Kante is his next prime target as he looks to build a team to end Juventus’ monopoly in the Serie A. However, Conte faces a battle to convince the Inter Milan hierarchy to match the midfielder’s current €8million-a-year wages.

The report further goes on to add that Kante too is keen on securing an exit, as he feels his time at Chelsea is coming to a close after four years at the club.

The 29-year-old World Cup winner has endured an injury-riddled 2019/20 campaign. Recent reports have also hinted that Chelsea might look to cash in on him, in order to make room for new arrivals in the summer.

A transfer to Inter could work out well for all parties involved. However, any transfer would hinge on Conte being able to persuade Inter’s board to match his current salary.
