Frank Lampard takes a dig at Bruno Fernandes ahead of FA Cup semi-final

As reported by the Metro, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has aimed a dig at Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes, warning his defenders to be careful around the Portuguese following a spate of controversial VAR decisions going in their favour.

The Red Devils are currently on a 19-game unbeaten run across all competitions. And while it is true that they have made improvements, they have also been benefited by a number of controversial VAR calls going their way.

Last week, Fernandes was fortunate to be awarded a penalty against Aston Villa after he himself appeared to have initiated contact with opposition defender Ezri Konsa.

Taking an aim at the questionable decisions and how United have had the rub of green on their side, Lampard warned his defenders, while subtly aiming a dig at our opponents. (h/t Metro)

“You need to understand the qualities of the opposition, with players like that. Fernandes is very clever in his movement. We saw that at Aston Villa to make something feel like a penalty where maybe it even isn’t.”

More recently, in the game against Crystal Palace, the Eagles were denied what looked like a clear-cut penalty after Victor Lindelof appeared to have fouled Wilfried Zaha inside the box.

“I would like to think that with VAR you have to be level headed. Some might go against you or not. But we seem to be in a period where, in terms of Manchester United, they’ve got a few in their favour.”
