Aurelio De Laurentiis reveals that Chelsea target Victor Osimhen is set to sign new deal with Napoli
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has given bad news to Chelsea and Arsenal after he revealed Victor Osimhen is on the verge of signing a new contract. It is understood that his new contract release clause will be around £130 million, but it remains to be seen when the provision will come into effect.
It was thought that Osimhen would be leaving after the club’s official TikTok page posted a video mocking him, which led to a deterioration in the relationship between the player and the club. Chelsea and Arsenal have targeted Osimhen, who remains their top priority for the upcoming 2024 transfer windows.
The 24-year-old who led the Serie A club to Scudetto ended the season on a high note, which has increased his demand, but if the Nigerian pens down a new deal, it will come as a huge blow for both Gunners and Blues.
The Napoli president has spoiled their party and confirmed they are close to tying down the prolific striker to a new contract, which will affect Chelsea and Arsenal’s pursuit. De Laurentiis spoke about the Osimhen contract situation during an event in Naples, (h/t Express) and told reporters:
“With Osimhen, we are about to sign the contract that was pending this summer.”
Should this be the case, Napoli would expect far more from Arsenal or us. It won’t be easy to deal with them because he is their star striker, and they will be trying to make as much money as they can, especially since they put in a new release clause that is around £130 million. It is certainly a handsome amount that Chelsea will need to fork out to secure their man.

Hopefully, there will be cordial talks with them, as we have already completed the transfer business with them when we signed Kalidou Koulibaly. We anticipate that Chelsea could set yet another British transfer record if they are successful in acquiring Osimhen, who has remained their top priority since last summer window.
