Chelsea loanee Hakim Ziyech has taken a swipe at owner Todd Bohely’s transfer policy, which saw players run out of patience under his regime.

Todd Boehly, who won the bid to become Chelsea’s new owner in May 2022, has spent £1 billion on transfers, but is yet to experience success on the pitch. While the current roster does have potential, a long-term vision is yet to fully take shape.

Last season, the Blues finished 12th in the Premier League, which saw the change of many managers, while this season the club is in 10th place after playing 13 matches under Mauricio Pochettino.

Hakim Ziyech is currently on loan to Galatasaray.

Ziyech, who wanted to leave Chelsea last season, came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, but due to some document issues, the move failed to transpire.

However, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan this summer with an obligation to make the move permanent and has also impressed the Turkish side.

The 30-year-old has now slammed Bohely for his scattergun transfer approach, which saw Chelsea have a massive squad last season and players run out of patience, (h/t Metro) he told Voetbal International:

“We had three teams there with top players. At a certain point, we run out of patience. A selection with 40 players for one team is simply far too much and is asking for problems.’’

Here, Ziyech is entirely correct in what he said about Chelsea’s state of affairs last season. The previous season was one of our worst campaigns with the players we purchased, the majority of whom were young and inexperienced. It caused turmoil inside the team, and Thomas Tuchel’s sudden dismissal took some time to process. Then came Graham Potter, who had about 40 players, and it became extremely challenging for him to train a group of players that were incapable of producing results.

But Chelsea’s first move this season was to trim our overinflated team by offloading peripheral players. After that, we made a lot of quality player acquisitions, and as a result, we are doing much better this season than we were the previous one. With Pochettino in charge, we will soon make winning our routine a priority.
