Thomas Frank claims Ivan Toney is happy at Brentford amid Chelsea interest.
Thomas Frank has confirmed Ivan Toney is happy at Brentford, despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. Toney is currently serving an eight-month ban after breaching betting rules.
It will be challenging to keep him at the club amid interest from top Premier League sides and knowing he enjoyed a productive spell last season his acquisition feels even more sensible. However, if Toney decides to leave then the Bees will demand £100million.
The striker’s time at Brentford seems to be coming to an end as he draws interest from Premier League clubs. But there is a new twist, as the Bees head coach says the striker is happy at the club.
Chelsea have had big issues solving their goalscoring problems, but they feel Toney is an ideal centre-forward and a proven Premier League product to address the woes.
Despite having Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal haven’t struggled with goal-scoring like Chelsea have this season. However, following Frank’s comment, both teams have now experienced a transfer roadblock, (h/t Football.London) Frank stated as follows:
“He is happy at the club; I want him to stay. Ivan is happy to stay. He’s happy at the club. What happens in the future is impossible to guess about.”
Frank seemed to be trying to ward off the teams’ interest with his remarks. However, anything may happen, and it will be hard to turn down large teams when they want to sign you. Since we have expressed interest in Victor Osimhen, we can explore our possibilities if Toney decides to stay with the Bees until next summer. However, he hasn’t returned to action, so we are unsure if he will play for them in January.
