Jason Cundy reveals Chelsea have landed a massive upgrade on Kai Havertz in the form of Cole Palmer
Jason Cundy’s statement might not delight Arsenal fans, as he claimed that Chelsea have signed a major upgrade on Kai Havertz in the form of Cole Palmer.
The Blues signed Palmer from Manchester City after selling Havertz to Arsenal for £65 million. The German international has struggled to remain consistent since his move from Bayern Leverkusen.
The same has been witnessed at Arsenal as the former Leverkusen forward has struggled to find his feet at the Gunners, while Palmer’s acquisition is slowly paying dividends for the Blues, who was seen as a surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The U21 England international finally opened his Chelsea account in a 4-1 win over Burnley with a penalty and then later set Nicolas Jackson up for another goal.
His performance has heaped praise, and now the pundit feels he is an upgrade on Havertz. When questioned by fellow talkSPORT presenter if Palmer was an upgrade on Havertz, (h/t Metro) Cundy replied:
‘Completely. When you look at what Cole Palmer is bringing, he’s turning into the player we hoped Havertz would be. He’s playing in a slightly different position, but he’s the player we hoped Havertz would turn into. At the moment, he looks like a class act.’’
Although Havertz might have had his moments in a Chelsea shirt, he flattered to deceive. Aside from Moises Caicedo, Palmer was the best signing made by the Blues, and Cundy’s views are accurate. We have certainly received an improvement on Havertz.

Palmer is adaptable, and he has made a powerful impact on the team. We have found an asset in him because he can create and score goals. Hopefully, his performance has persuaded Mauricio Pochettino to start him in every game going forward, and we hope he will play an important role in the team.
