Romelu Lukaku says he is not sure if he will return to Chelsea

Johan Boskamp blasts Romelu Lukaku and says Chelsea striker has himself to blame for

Johan Boskamp has asserted wantaway Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has made a mess of his career and only has himself to blame for it.

After failing to decide which club he wants to join, the 30-year-old Belgian attacker is now being linked with a move to AS Roma, where he would be reunited with Jose Mourinho.

Lukaku was destined to join Inter Milan on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan there, but after his surprise negotiations with Juventus, Inter abandoned the race.

While the move to Juventus never appeared to be concrete, even their fans were against the transfer. Now Lukaku could be on the verge of joining Roma on a temporary basis.

But former Feyenoord player Johan Boskamp feels Lukaku has made a mockery of his career, as he told Het Belang van Limburg, relayed by Voetbalkrant (Translation credits: SportWitness):

“Sorry, but he only has himself to blame for that. First, Anderlecht was his big football love, then Chelsea, then Everton, and then Inter again. You can’t declare your unconditional love for a different club every season. That doesn’t come across as credible. Certainly not if you then go on to hook up with the big enemy, as he did with Juventus at Inter. That’s how you smash your own windows.”

Regarding the Lukaku transfer issue, Boskamp has a point. He has a habit of celebrating by kissing the club’s badge and he has done it at several teams. It is seen by many as a gesture of unbound loyalty to the club.

But that just hasn’t happened. He hasn’t won over Inter fans with his latest antics and immediately lost the support of the Chelsea faithful after that Sky Italia interview.

The 30-year-old has been bouncing from one club to another in recent years which has done his career no good. He could have been able to achieve more had he played for a team where he was settled and spent proper time at. At the end of his playing days, he may find it hard to associate with one (or any) fanbase when reflects upon his career because they just won’t reciprocate the feelings.
