Bayern Munich want to replace Benjamin Pavard with the signing of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah
As per the German version of Sky Sports, Bayern Munich are eyeing a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as a successor to Benjamin Pavard.
The latter has been a subject of interest for many clubs this summer, including Manchester United. Although the move is not final yet, he is close to joining Inter Milan.
The former, on the other hand, is not expected to get much game time at Chelsea. The club signed Axel Disasi when Wesley Fofana picked up an ACL injury. Levi Colwill has signed a new long-term deal not long ago and Benoit Badiashile will become an option soon.
So, despite signing a long-term contract of his own last year, the 24-year-old could leave Stamford Bridge before the deadline. It won’t be a straightforward deal though because Bayern want a loan move while Chelsea are looking to sell the player outright.
Chalobah is a versatile player who can play as a centre-back and a fullback. He was also played in defensive midfield by the current Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel when he was at the Bridge.
On the face of it, we can understand why the German champions are aiming to sign the Englishman. He has a similar profile to Pavard in terms of the positions they can play. Of course, the latter is more experienced and is a World Cup winner.

Let’s see what happens between now and the end of the season. This is a move that could potentially suit all parties. If Bayern are stubborn to get him on loan and Chelsea are not, there needs to be a compromise soon. Maybe, the Blues can offer the player on loan with an obligation-to-buy clause attached? Possibly so!
