Moises Caicedo sends message to Chelsea fans after nightmare debut vs West Ham

Brighton & Hove Albion owner Tony Bloom says he has no personal problem with Chelsea regarding player transfers.

Moises Caicedo writes a message to the fans to come back strong after a mistake-laden Chelsea bow

New signing Moises Caicedo was delighted to make his Chelsea debut but ensured the fans to come back strong after an underwhelming outing on Sunday.

The Ecuador international, signed for a British transfer record fee of £115m, made his Blues debut against West Ham United by coming on for the final 30 minutes of the game.

Safe to say, the 21-year-old struggled to catch up with the intensity of the game. He misplaced a few passes, got bypassed in midfield against a team that had 10 men and gave away a stupid penalty late on to kill off any hope Chelsea had to pick up a point.

Here’s the message Caicedo wrote for the fans via his Instagram post:

After making such a big move last week, there was bound to be nerves surrounding the player. It seemed that way when he stepped foot onto the field on Sunday.

Was Mauricio Pochettino right in handing Caicedo the debut in a crunch game away to London rivals? Should have held him back and handed him a full start against Luton Town at Stamford Bridge? We can make an argument for both sides to be honest.

The thing is that is in the past now. Those 30 minutes won’t define the 21-year-old’s career at Chelsea. If he recovers from that, trains well throughout the week and starts to show his qualities in the coming games, we can put that debut performance in the mud.

With all due respect, Luton at home is the type of game Caicedo should target to get back to his best without being overly stressed. He can use that game to develop an understanding with the teammates on the field.
