Chelsea could offer Andrey Santos to Nottingham Forest on loan to sign Brennan Johnson
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea could offer Andrey Santos on loan to Nottingham Forest to enable them to sign Brennan Johnson as part of a swap deal.
Following the long-term injury to Christopher Nkunku, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a goal-scoring number 10. The club were in the race to sign Michael Olise, but the Frenchman signed a new contract with Crystal Palace instead.
Now, we are seeing Chelsea getting linked with a move for Johnson. With Forest looking to sign a midfielder, there is a consensus that the Blues can offer them Santos on loan plus some cash to sign the Welsh international.
The need for a number 10 must have aggravated itself after seeing Carney Chukwuemeka pick up an injury against West Ham United on Sunday. Talking about Johnson, he is a versatile forward who can operate as a 10 behind the striker or be comfortable when asked to play on the wing.
The 22-year-old scored eight goals and assisted three in 38 league games last season in a mediocre Forest side. He can bring a lot of running, dribbling and work rate to the team. He is good at picking up great spots between the lines to hurt the opposition’s defence.
We can see the logic behind Chelsea’s aim to sign him before the deadline of this transfer window. Whether they are successful in it is a different question.

Regardless of the Johnson signing, the club must keep an eye on the market to sign an experienced centre-forward. As good as Nicolas Jackson has looked, it seems like he would need some time before becoming that 25-goal striker every season. Armando Broja is coming back to fitness but he is in the same category as Jackson.
