Chelsea have an interest in Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino
As per journalist Simon Phillips (h/t Football London), Chelsea are interested in signing Villarreal and Spain winger Yeremy Pino during this transfer window.
Chelsea’s interest in signing a winger is well-known in the past few days. They were close to getting Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. But, the young Frenchman signed a new contract with the Eagles instead.
The Blues have also been keeping an eye on Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus. West Ham United have seen a bid for the Ghana international rejected by the Dutch giants over the past couple of days.
Just like Kudus and Olise, Pino is also a right winger who can operate on the other side or as a false nine if required. The 20-year-old started out as a youth player at Las Palmas and Roda before moving to Villarreal in 2019.
Even at such a young age, the Spanish international has got 18 goals and 12 assists in over 6500 minutes of first-team football for Villarreal.
He is a rapid winger who can take people on and dribble past them, is good at producing magic in the final third and can work in different positions comfortably.
Pino’s current contract with Villarreal lasts until the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt). It remains to be seen how much the La Liga side would demand if Chelsea make a verbal offer to the player.
Time is running out in the transfer window if the Blues have to do something in this regard. They have to sign a goalkeeper as well post the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid.

By all accounts, Pino would be a decent addition to the squad. It would at least suit the model of recruitment under the current ownership – signing top young players for hopefully long-term contracts. Nicolas Jackson, former Villarreal striker, could play a role in helping the Spaniard make a move here.
