Lampard unsure about key Chelsea star ahead of new season

Kepa Arrizabalaga was unconvincing for Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard still unsure about Kepa Arrizabalaga

According to the Express, Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard is still unsure about goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard has failed to do justice to the tag of the world’s most expensive keeper. He has endured a mixed season that had seen him dropped to the bench in favor of reserve custodian Willy Caballero for a stretch of games.

The 25-year-old, to his credit, did fight back to win back his spot in the starting XI. But his inconsistency remains a problem.

A perfect example of that was on show against Crystal Palace. He failed to keep out Wilfried Zaha’s opener but was at hand to make a spectacular stop in stoppage time.

The save proved crucial as Chelsea held on to win 3-2. The performance also drew praise from Lampard in his post-match presser.

According to the report, Chelsea and Lampard are still deciding whether to sell Arrizabalaga and bring in a new goalkeeper.

Ajax’s Victor Onana has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. If it does come to pass, he will be the second Ajax player signed by us this summer after Hakim Ziyech.

The Chelsea backline has been a sort of constant worry throughout the reason.

Kepa is not the only player whose future is in question. The Blues could also part with Kurt Zouma, while also bring in a new left-back with Ben Chilwell the favourite.
