Real Madrid explore Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic deal amidst Chelsea interest

Chelsea have been joined by Real Madrid in the race to acquire the services of Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic this summer, according to Sky Sports via Goal and Chelsea Chronicle (h/t football.london).

The Blues are looking to add reinforcements up top in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, we have already had a bid rejected by the Old Lady for the Serbia international.

However, the Bianconeri are willing to part ways with the 23-year-old if their £77 million asking price is met. But the Stamford Bridge side will now have to compete with Los Blancos to get a hold of the striker’s signature.

Carlo Ancelloti has gone as far as making a phone call about Vlahovic. The Santiago Bernabeu side lost Karim Benzema this summer after he joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad.

The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has been Madrid’s leading player for several years now. With the French national’s departure, the La Liga giants are left with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo as their only two established attackers.

Vlahovic was considered one of the biggest prospects during his time at Fiorentina. However, the Serbian’s pedigree has dwindled a bit since moving to Juventus in January 2022.

At Chelsea, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have arrived to bolster the forward line. However, we still evidently lack an out-and-out number nine in our ranks. Romelu Lukaku is still at the club, but the Belgian’s future is up in the air at the moment.

We have sold a number of our attacking players in the ongoing transfer window. Kai Havertz has joined Chelsea, while Christian Pulisic has moved to AC Milan on a permanent deal.

Mauricio Pochettino evidently needs to be given a prolific goalscorer at his disposal going into next season. However, whether Vlahovic will be the one we will end up getting remains to be seen.
