Chelsea consider submitting bids for Gabri Veiga and Romeo Lavia amidst Moises Caicedo negotiations
Chelsea are considering offers for Southampton star Romeo Lavia and Gabri Veiga of Celta de Vigo besides Moises Caicedo as they try to add depth to their midfield in the summer transfer window.
According to the Evening Standard, (h/t Express), Chelsea are set to make an enhanced bid of £70 million for the 21-year-old Ecuadorian international. The Blues need multiple additions and it would appear that the belief is now catching on.
It is understood that Chelsea are keen on signing Lavia and Veiga and may send their bid to sign the duo, who are also being monitored by other Premier League clubs. Securing them will future proof our midfield options, also giving Mauricio Pochettino two young gems to work with.
Chelsea’s £70 million offer might fall short of Brighton & Hove Albion’s demand, as they are seeking £100 million for the exit of the Ecuadorian midfielder. The West Londoners remain in negotiations with Brighton and are closing in on a deal, but it could take weeks to reach an agreement with the Seagulls.
Chelsea could use the help of the head of recruitment Joe Shields, who is familiar with Lavia and helped him bring him to Southampton from Manchester City. However, the Blues will face competition from Liverpool and Arsenal for his acquisition. The same goes for Veiga, who has been tracked by the likes of Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Although it will take some time due to Brighton’s stubborn stance in negotiations. They are not willing to accept lower than £100 million for the midfielder, there is a sense of optimism that we could be able to finalise the Caicedo deal.

However, we still need to add more depth in the midfielder after offloading the likes of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, and N’Golo Kante. Once the Caicedo transaction is done, the club may then concentrate on Veiga and Lavia’s signings. But there will be competition for the acquisition of both midfielders and if we are successful in signing them then our midfield will improve to a certain degree.
