Chelsea set to make improved offer for their No. 1 summer target

Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea will fulfil their plan of reaching European competition .

Chelsea will submit enhanced bid for Brighton star Moises Caicedo

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea are expected to make an improved offer of over £70 million for their key target Moises Caicedo this week.

The Blues’ previous bid of £60 million was turned down by Brighton & Hove Albion, and it is understood that the Seagulls will also reject their improved offer for the midfielder. Brighton are hoping to collect £100 million from Caicedo’s signing, which has been tough for the Blues to negotiate.

The 21-year-old has already agreed to personal terms openly during an interview, where he admitted he won’t say no to Chelsea. The Ecuadorian midfielder is also expected to join Brighton for the pre-season tour.

Chelsea co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have been in regular talks with Brighton and have been informing new boss Mauricio Pochettino of all the details. The Ecuador international is said to be the club’s No. 1 transfer target this summer.

The former Southampton manager is hoping to sort out the basic structure of his new squad before the players fly to the USA for their pre-season tour, where they will face Wrexham, Brighton, Fulham, Newcastle, and Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues have secured a decent amount of money from the exits of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. They have apparently raised £230 million by selling 11 players.

It appears that negotiations with Brighton for Caicedo’s signing could drag on longer and possibly until the deadline. The sooner we get him, the better it will be for the player and us as he can become habituated to Chelsea’s culture and feel comfortable with Poch’s tactics.

They are not showing any indications of dropping their asking price of £100 million for the midfielder, and given Chelsea’s recent improved bid, the Seagulls could reject it. Ben Jacobs has stated that the player is unhappy with how his transfer is being handled, so this could be a factor that can play in our favor.

We have invested far too much time in the Brighton star. It shows we have earmarked him to be a crucial player for us, so let us hope a compromise can be found between the two teams. The higher the price tag, the more pressure on the player to do well.
