Fabrizio Romano claims Chelsea are closing in on signing Everton youngster Ishe Samuels-Smith

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are on the verge of signing Everton left-back Ishe Samuels-Smith. Both teams have already reached a verbal agreement with a deal worth £4  million in the works.

Ishe Samuels-Smith has been at the Toffees since a tender age, and his rise as one of the best young left-backs has caught Chelsea’s attention. The 17-year-old previously represented the Merseysiders at the Under-18 and Under-21 levels.

Samuels-Smith’s quick ascendance saw him included in the Toffees first-team squad. But the teenager did not make his debut and will now leave Goodison Park yet to make his senior bow.

It is also understood that once the youngster completes his move, he will continue his education in West London and be part of Chelsea’s youth academy. He will become the latest player to join the Blues revolution, alongside several top yougn talents in the last few transfer windows.

Chelsea’s senior team already has the likes of Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella at left-back. It will take a monumental effort for the teenager to upstage the two Chelsea seniors but it is clear for all that he has much promise.

More so, Cucurella has been linked with a move away despite being at Chelsea only for a season. Add to it Chilwell’s injury struggles and it is clear why we need cover in the left-back spot.
