Chelsea have offered $131m bid plus four players in exchange for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe
According to the Spanish outlet Nacional via football365 (h/t Football.London), Premier League giants Chelsea have made an offer for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe worth $131million plus four players.
The French ace’s future is in doubt with Paris Saint-Germain keen to sell him rather than lose him for free in a year’s time. However, it will not be easy with any suitor likely to have to pay a king’s ransom to secure the attacker.
Chelsea have not shied away from making big moves in the transfer windows, especially after Todd Boehly’s acquisition of the club. Landing Mbappe would certainly outdo all of his lavish investments and send out a major statement to the fans and rivals alike.
Chelsea are ready to make their move and are willing to offer the quartet of Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Cesar Azpilicueta and Romelu Lukaku in part exchange. While Azpilciueta is past his best, the other three players represent significant value for money and are far from being past their prime.
The report can be taken with a pinch of salt given that the club are set to sanction Azpilicueta’s exit so that he can join Atletico Madrid. This is a curious move for the club to make especially if he was offered to PSG in part exchange.
Mbappe is one of the best players in the world and is a generational talent. Landing him would be a massive boost for us both on the field and off it as far as commercial revenue is concerned. More so, he will give the fans reason to dream as we aim to get our fortunes back on track.
Mauricio Pochettino will be familiar with the Frenchman having managed him while at PSG. A reunion at Stamford Bridge would be a welcome development indeed. There is nothing stopping us from dreaming.

Despite the allure, Chelsea will do well not to put all their eggs in one basket. The mass exodus of players this summer at the club has necessitated the need for us to bring in several reinforcements. Throwing away all of our money on one marquee signing while not addressing key squad deficiencies will hurt us in the long term. Hopefully, we have a plan for how to attack the window in the coming weeks that isn’t based on just optics.
