Manchester United submit new bid for Chelsea star Mason Mount
Manchester United have apparently submitted a new offer to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount, as per the Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Blues could sell Mount this summer with the player set to enter the final year of his contract next month. Manchester United’s first bid of £45million plus £5million add-ons was rejected.
They have now apparently raised that offer by £5million in the fixed transfer fee bracket. The question is, will Chelsea accept it? Should they accept it?
Mount hasn’t penned fresh terms and there doesn’t seem to be a bidding war going on for him. Chelsea could find themselves in a pickle if they reject Manchester United’s second bid and the Red Devils walk out.
Mount to Man United?
Then, we could have to find a new suitor who takes Mount off our hands because otherwise, we will risk losing him for nothing next year. Will Mason Mount be worth £55million for the one season he stays over?
That would be unlikely unless he has one of the greatest seasons in football history or if he ends up penning a new deal. Otherwise, we stand to make a big financial mistake if he slips from our hands for nothing.
There is a growing acceptance within the fanbase that the England international will leave. It is a bummer that he could join a direct rival in Manchester United.

But it is how it is. Football is a cruel sport for fans in times such as this. Chelsea will be wise to take the money while it is on the table and invest it wisely in midfield — replacing the 24-year-old gem they seem set to lose.
