Brighton star Moises Caicedo admits he cannot say no to Chelsea.

Dean Jones feels the asking price for Chelsea target Moises Caicedo is outrageous

Dean Jones has his say on Chelsea transfer target Moises Caicedo, terming Brighton & Hove Albion’s asking price as outrageous.

The Blues are heavily interested in signing the Ecuadorian ace. They know he won’t come cheap given that the Seagulls are demanding £100 million to part with the 21-year-old’s services.

However, despite signing a new deal in the winter window, the 21-year-old is expected to leave the Seagulls in the summer window. Whether we are willing to meet Brighton’s price is debatable.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have prioritised the signing of Declan Rice and are on the verge of completing the purchase of Chelsea’s forward Kai Havertz.

Chelsea, as of now, remains the only club in the race to sign the midfielder . With Arsenal looking elsewhere, the time is now for us to make a move. However, transfer guru Dean Jones is not convinced by Caicedo’s valuation and feels it’s too much. Speaking to Give Me Sport, he said:

“I think, first of all, we’ve learned that you have to treat Brighton respectfully and certainly don’t aggravate the situation by coming in with offers that you know are not going to be accepted. That’s the first lesson to learn with Brighton. “

“£100m is too much; it’s way too much. This is a player who has had one full season in the Premier League. It’s absolutely outrageous that you would be spending £100m on a player that two years ago you could have bought for £4m.”

Jones might be right in this instance, but Caicedo’s reputation has improved as a result of his tremendous Premier League performances. He was among the Seagulls’ most significant player last season, helping them to secure Europa League qualification.

Still, £100m seems a bit much for him. Chelsea have done themselves no favours either by paying big bucks for Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk in January. Brighton will be aware that we are a side that coughs up the cash if push comes to shove. How we navigate around it remains to be seen.
