Chelsea are ready to swap Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly for Inter Milan star Andre Onana
Chelsea are prepared to sign Inter Milan ace Andre Onana and are willing to offer Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly in a swap deal.
The Blues are heavily keen on signing the Cameroonian shot-stopper, (h/t Sun) who was excellent in the Champions League final against Manchester City last week in Istanbul. While he was unable to help the Italians to a win, his performance on the night caught the eye.
Chelsea wants to sign a quality custodian for the upcoming campaign since they believe Kepa Arrizabalaga is not performing up to par. The Blues are currently not eager to pay Inter’s asking price of about £55 million for Onana.
In exchange for the 27-year-old’s signing, they are now attempting to negotiate a swap deal that might involve Lukaku and Koulibaly moving to the Giuseppe Meazza.
Lukaku, who is on loan to Inter, is expected to return to Chelsea in the summer. But the 29-year-old wants to remain at the Serie A club, while the Senegalese defender endured a sub-par debut season and looks a shadow of the player he was while at Napoli.
Chelsea shows no clear sign of wanting to keeping Lukaku for next season while the former Napoli defender’s future at Stamford Bridge also remains uncertain. The Blues are also expected to do a squad clearout in the summer window, and the two veterans could be ones to make way.
This exchange offer appears reasonable given that it could prove to be a win-win for all parties. Lukaku has impressed in Italy while Koulibaly was nothing short of a monster in Serie A. With Milan Skriniar expected to join PSG, Inter do have a defensive deficit to fill.
At the back, we already have Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Levi Colwill for the upcoming season, while Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah’s futures are still up in the air.

While his time at Chelsea was a disaster, bringing Lukaku back could be risky given how he has struggled in Blue. If Inter accepts this exchange agreement and we are able to get Onana, then it will be an excellent deal for everyone involved.
