Roberto de Zerbi reveals Moises Caicedo could leave Brighton with Chelsea and Arsenal interested
According to Roberto de Zerbi, Moises Caicedo could depart Brighton in the summer transfer window with Chelsea and Arsenal continuing to show interest.
However, earlier Brighton turned down an offer from Arsenal for the midfielder that was worth £55 million. The 21-year-old recently agreed to a new deal with the Seagulls after the end of winter window will keep him with the team until 2027,
The Blues have continued to be interested in signing the Ecuadorian player. When Mauricio Pochettino is hired, he is expected to seek a defensive midfielder for the upcoming campaign.
When the transfer market opens, Chelsea may once again compete with Arsenal for the 21-year-old signing. N’Golo Kante is now injury prone while Mateo Kovacic continues to be linked with an exit. We could do with the right reinforcements.
And De Zerbi has already claimed the midfielder can leave the club next season after their 3-0 win over Arsenal. (h/t Football.London) De Zerbi said in a post-match press conference:
“Of course we will lose some players—maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister.”
“We have to be ready to bring in another good player, and for the others, Mitoma and Estupinan, I think the best solution is for them to stay with us. I don’t know if they are ready to play on the big teams; you can explain better than me what it means to ‘play on a big team.’’
If we are able to sign Caicedo, then it will be an excellent signing. The Ecuadorian has become among the best midfielders in the Premier League, and his acquisition will certainly sort out our midfield problem.
And we feel he will be the perfect replacement for N’Golo Kante; he possesses similar qualities to the Frenchman. However, he won’t come cheap, plus we will have to battle with Arsenal for his signing.
