Transfer News: Chelsea will not let Barcelona target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave for free

Chelsea have taken a decision on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract situation amidst apparent interest from Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the Blues will not let him leave for free this summer. This impacts Barcelona as they wanted to pursue him only as a free agent.

This is how they signed from Arsenal midway through last season. But Chelsea are unwilling to do a favour for Auba and Barcelona in the same manner that the Gunners did.

The 33-year-old is believed to be very keen on returning to Barcelona, where he spent six months. His move to Stamford Bridge on a two-year contract last summer has proven to be a massive failure.

Right call by Chelsea?

Paying €12 million for a striker of his ilk seemed like a bargain then but he has evidently lost pace and stamina on the pitch and just seems like a shadow of his former self.

One goal in 15 Premier League games this season is a horrific return for a striker we paid a seven-digit transfer fee for. Chelsea apparently don’t have him in their plans for next season. No surprise there.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez are two world-class strikers that have been linked with us recently, while Christopher Nkunku is scheduled to arrive in SW6 this summer. But that doesn’t mean we do Barcelona a favour needlessly.

More Chelsea News:

Unless they can do a favour for us in return, there is absolutely no need to help out a team that took away Andreas Christensen from us and prevented us from signing Jules Koune and Raphinha last summer. If they can’t help us out, we can invite other suitors to the table and seek a fee for Auba.
