Report: Mauricio Pochettino plans four signings including Harry Kane after Chelsea appointment

Tottenham Hotspur expresses interest in signing Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino suggests four signings for Chelsea

Following his agreement to take over as the next manager of the Blues, Mauricio Pochettino has talked with Chelsea about the possibility of making four signings during the summer transfer window.

Declan Rice, Harry Kane, Alexis MacAllister, (h/t Express) and Emiliano Martinez were reportedly discussed internally by the former Southampton manager with Chelsea as per Independent.

Along with Jesus Perez and the rest of his coaching team, it appears that the Argentine manager will start working as soon as he is introduced as Chelsea’s next manager in West London.

In order to balance the payroll, Chelsea will also make significant roster changes and sell a number of fringe players.

Todd Bohely has spent £600 million since his arrival this season, but considering that Chelsea didn’t make the Champions League for next season, it will hurt them financially, and the American billionaire won’t be able to spend as much this summer.

In order to raise some money by cleaning out half of the team, they will thus need to be careful with their spending. The Blues, who are presently 11th in the Premier League, have three games remaining until their season ends.

The signing of Declan Rice, Harry Kane, and Mac Allister would strengthen us considerably. Even if we don’t sign the Argentine midfielder, it won’t be a huge issue; we need a defensive midfielder, and Rice’s signings would be important but his asking price will be high.

One can imagine Tottenham won’t make it cheap or easy for Chelsea – their sworn rivals – to sign their club’s greatest-ever player but let us hope Poch can convince his former player to join him at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Martinez is a great keeper, is confident on the ball, is tall and is also impressive with his ball distribution, so if we fail to sign Andre Onana, Martinez seems like a good backup option.

Poch’s official announcement as Chelsea boss should be met with universal appreciation among the fanbase. It signals a safe, sensible appointment from owners that tried to experiment too much in their first full season in England. Lesson learnt? Hopefully.
