Frank Lampard encourages Chelsea star Noni Madueke strive for consistency
Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has offered advice to Noni Madueke and claimed the former PSV Eindhoven player should remain consistent to develop his game.
After impressing at Dutch club Chelsea signed the 21-year-old for around £35 million. Madueke, who joined from PSV, has one goal to his name in eight Premier League matches.
However, the youngster received less game time earlier but has now started in his last two games in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal and the 3-1 win over Bournemouth. And in those fixtures, the 21-year-old illustrated that he boasts great potential and could develop into a future star.
And interim manager Lampard had the same say; (h/t Football.London) during the press conference before the Nottingham Forest game, he said:
“I think Noni is a good example of an individual who, in the first week of training, had clear talent, but I wanted to see a bit more.”
“It won’t just stop with him, but those sort of players—as I’ve said before in press conferences—need stability around them to take their own game forward, and they haven’t had that this season.”
As he demonstrated in the past two games, Madueke certainly has a lot to offer, and he doesn’t hesitate to challenge defenders. He can score goals dribble past defenders and also has good vision.
At just 21 years old, he undoubtedly indicated that, with the right guidance, he may become Chelsea’s next great star, but he will require an immense amount of consistency.
Succeeding at a club such as Chelsea is not easy given the expectations on players. Madueke is still raw and has some way to go before he can be a regular difference-maker. Lampard knows a thing or two about making a name in Blue and his advice must be heeded.
