Chelsea make contact with Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo for managerial position
According to Relevo (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have made contact with Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo for the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is the legend of the club in his previous two spells here. The Portuguese has won three Premier League titles with the Blues. But, he is currently managing AS Roma and doing a good job of it. They are in a good position in the top four this season and play Champions League football next time around.
Nuno, on the other hand, hasn’t been managing a team since getting sacked by Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of last season. The irony is that the manager who got the hook before him in north London was Mourinho.
So, in a way, we are talking about two former Spurs managers being in contention to take over the vacant job at Chelsea following the sacking of Graham Potter on Sunday.
The Blues have appointed club legend Frank Lampard on an interim till the end of this season. This appointment will give them time to finalise the process of hiring a permanent manager in the summer.
Apart from the two Portuguese gents, Chelsea have approached Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique for the job. The co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have been impressed by the former but concerned by his age (35).
It would be interesting to see how things pan out. Is Lampard just an interim boss, or will he be in contention if he does an excellent job in the remaining games of this season? Out of the managers contacted, how will the board decide which one is the best?

There are a lot of questions in the air at the moment. We may say that this is the reason why the people above are paid the big bucks. They have to make tough decisions.
