Julian Nagelsmann favourite to replace Graham Potter as Chelsea manager
According to Fabrizio Romano, free agent Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite to become the new Chelsea manager after Graham Potter’s sacking on Sunday.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager was relieved of his duties after the club’s surprise 2-0 league loss against Aston Villa on Sunday. The team has struggled for a long time under the Englishman, especially going forward.
It was honestly coming. The win against Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 merely delayed the inevitable. Now, the hunt for a replacement is on. Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich last month and replaced with former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, is a top contender.
After Chelsea’s loss against Villa at the end of regulation, the fans booed the players off the ground, and Potter came under fire for the lineup he chose and the tactics he employed.
He once again experimented with the squad ahead of one of the crucial matches. Despite having three centre-backs, Potter played Marc Cucurella ahead of Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile and played Reece Jame as centre-backs.
Potter was swiftly sacked by the club following the defeat. The Blues will now face Liverpool on Tuesday, who lost 4-1 to Manchester City, this will be a crucial match for both clubs, given Liverpool will be hoping to finish in the top four, while Chelsea will aim to finish as high as they can.
It remains to be seen who will be in charge of the game for the Blues. As per the Echo, it seems that interim manager Bruno Saltor will be the club’s head coach for the time being.
Our chances of making the Champions League have completely vanished, as we are currently ranked 11th in the table. But hiring a manager as soon as possible can give them the time they need to properly understand the team and prepare for next season.
With his vast experience and relatively young age, the 35-year-old can forge a strong connection with Chelsea’s young players and command respect from them. Nagelsmann could be a fantastic addition to our team if we were able to sign him.

We were supposed to be different under Todd Boehly when it came to trusting managers. But Potter’s sack around six months after he was installed as manager could send across a message that the current Chelsea board, like Abramovich in the past, does not have a lot of patience.
