Chelsea interested in bringing back £70.8m star Tammy Abraham
According to The Athletic, Chelsea retain a strong interest in former youth academy product Tammy Abraham and could try to sign him back in the summer.
Chelsea’s ongoing issues in the final third this season have placed further emphasis on a need for an out-and-out goalscorer. The Blues have scored the fewest number of goals in the league’s top 11 and have only scored more than one in seven Premier League games.
The Blues possess a £70.8million buy-back clause in his contract – negotiated by Marina Granovskaia – which becomes active in the summer. It might be an option that Potter & co. look to explore.
Abraham is no stranger to Chelsea, having spent several years at the club’s academy and eventually making his way into the first team. He scored some important goals for the club under Frank Lampard.
However, with the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and the purchase of Romelu Lukaku, Abraham found himself down the pecking order and eventually moved to AS Roma.
With Chelsea struggling to find the back of the net this season, Abraham’s return to Stamford Bridge could be a welcome one. He has proven in the past that he has the ability to score goals, and his style of play could suit Potter.
Of course, the price tag of £ 70.8 million is a significant one, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to pay that much for a player who has struggled to find form this season.
However, the fact that the Blues negotiated a buy-back clause in his contract shows that they value him highly and believe that he has the potential to become a top-class striker.

It’s also worth noting that Abraham is still only 24 years old, which means that he has plenty of time to improve and develop his game further. He has already shown that he can be a prolific goalscorer, and with the right guidance and coaching, he could become a world-class striker. Let’s hope Chelsea can sign him.
