Chelsea are set to accept a permanent bid from Hull City for midfielder Xavier Simons
As per a tweet from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are set to accept a bid for a permanent transfer from Hull City for midfielder Xavier Simons.
It is also revealed that Chelsea will include a sell-on clause in the agreement, keeping in mind that the player could be sold at a higher price in the future.
The personal terms are agreed upon between Simons and Hull. The 20-year-old joined the Tigers last summer on a season-long loan deal. Although he has only 260 minutes for their senior team so far this season, the hierarchy at Hull is convinced enough to sign him on a permanent deal.
After not even being in squads for most of the games in the first half of the season, Simons has started and played the full 90 minutes of the last two matches against Preston North End and Bristol City. A long-term injury to Jean Michel Seri helped his cause to get valuable minutes.
The 20-year-old is a central midfielder who can operate as a defensive midfielder if required. In the latest two league appearances, we saw him getting play in a defensive midfield pivot.
Simons was an academy player at Chelsea without getting much game time at the senior level. This is nothing new for the Blues in terms of selling their top young talents to other clubs and obtaining a good profit out of it.

Moreover, with how expansive the spending has been in the last two transfer windows, the club could do by recuperating some money back for balancing out the books. They are touted to sell first-team players in the coming summer to do more of that. Let’s hope the money earned will be used to sign a top striker.
